The Latin Alphabet is the most widely used writing system in the world today. It originated in ancient Rome around the 7th century BCE and was adapted from the Etruscan script, which itself came from the Greek alphabet. The early Latin script had 21 letters, but over time, new ones like J, U, and W were added, bringing the total to 26 letters used in modern English and many other languages. The alphabet spread through Europe and later across the world with the growth of the Roman Empire, Christianity, and European exploration.
