The Lydian Alphabet was used to write the Lydian language, spoken in the ancient kingdom of Lydia, located in what is now western Turkey. It was in use from around the 8th to the 3rd century BCE and is part of the Anatolian branch of Indo-European languages. The script was written from right to left and carved mainly on stone monuments and coins. Only a few inscriptions have survived, but they give valuable clues about the culture, language, and people of ancient Lydia.

The Lydian script had about 26 letters, representing both consonants and vowels. Its shapes were influenced by the Greek alphabet but developed a distinct style of its own. Although the language eventually disappeared, the Lydian Alphabet remains an important key for historians and linguists studying early writing systems and the civilizations of Asia Minor. It reflects a fascinating part of human history when alphabets were still taking shape across the ancient world.
