The Ol Chiki Alphabet is the writing system created for the Santali language, spoken by the Santali people in eastern India, Bangladesh, and Nepal. It was developed in 1925 by Pandit Raghunath Murmu, who designed it to give the Santali language its own unique script instead of relying on borrowed writing systems like Devanagari or Bengali.

Ol Chiki consists of 30 letters, each representing a distinct sound in the Santali language. Unlike many South Asian scripts that are syllabic, Ol Chiki is an alphabet where each symbol stands for a single consonant or vowel. The script is written from left to right, and it beautifully reflects the phonetic richness of the Santali language.

Today, Ol Chiki is officially recognized in India and used in education, literature, and cultural preservation efforts. Its creation is seen as a significant step toward promoting linguistic identity and pride among the Santali-speaking communities.
